Roof coverings for over 230 units for phase2 of the PL2 regeneration project.

What We Did

PL2 exceeds standard building regulations and all homes achieve Code level 3 as a minimum of ‘The Code for Sustainable Homes’. The materials specified for the roofs were clay interlocking tiles, clay roof tiles are a natural, durable, sustainable product which is considered to be water, fire and weather resistant giving protection for over 70 years. Not only do they withstand severe weather conditions they improve with age. Sandtoft Rivius are a new generation large flat tile and save on materials and installation costs due the speed of which that can be laid.

Western Counties roofing face the challenge of the fast production pace with this project, providing numerous teams of tillers, flat roofers and leadsmith work to a very tight schedule. Additional challenges faced are material procurement times due to the national tile shortage, meaning tiles need to be ordered well in advance with an average lead in time being 12 weeks. Western Counties Roofing have a strong supply chain and our own Merchant Outlets in the South West we were able to minimise material procurement times with orders made, an essential part of this process is good communication between us and the contractor when roofs come ready.
