Western Counties Roofing are looking for an experienced Solar PV Manager to join our well-established team.

Established for over 30 years, Western Counties Roofing Ltd carry out roofing contracts for major developers throughout the Southwest where we cover in excess of 3500 plots annually across over 140 sites from Bristol to Lands’ End. Our Head Office is located at Newton Abbot with area offices at Bodmin, Wellington & Barnstaple. We specialise in all forms of roofing including slating, tiling, leadwork, green roofs, metal sheeting & cladding, standing seam, single ply systems, aluminium flashings and now PV systems.

Our business is centred around new build housing developments and commercial buildings however, due to the change in part L, Solar PV now represents a huge shift in the make-up of all roof works. WCR provide a whole roof solution incorporating PV into our scope of works. We can now offer panels installations right through to battery storage and EV chargers.

As the Solar PV Site Contracts Manager, you will be required to organise labour in conjunction with the pitched roofing works where you will need to liaise with our pitched roof contracts managers on a daily basis, attend regular programme and progress meetings on site, oversee projects and installations from the installation of PV panels through to the inverters and battery storage, coordinating material deliveries with our warehouse teams, product and system sign-off and ensuring all H&S guidance and policies are followed. Where required, you will need to complete the electrical install of inverters and batteries and because of this, an electrical background is essential.

This is a new department but already we have secured over £2m of work (1000 plots) and we anticipate this to double over the next 6-8 months. We are forecasting a 150% growth by the start of 2026.

The ideal candidate must have an Electrical background and experience in Project Management along experience within the Solar PV sector. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, prioritise tasks and have a proactive, focused, and positive attitude.

You will work alongside our Estimator & Technical manager who heads the team, along with a site’s supervisor whose role is to site based and train roofers in PV installations, inspect panel installs and attend to any installation problems or queries. There is further scope to add to this in-house team in the future.

What your role will look like:

• Manager and oversee PV and electrical installs but focussing heavily on the electrical installs to ensure compliance.
• Provide technical assistance to installers, technicians, or members of the developer’s team.
• Programming labour of both PV and Electrical installs.
• Meet and discuss developer’s programmes on site.
• Attend pre-start meetings.
• Attend weekly in-house progress & programming meetings with our WCR contracts managers and senior managers.
• Ensuring projects are delivered on budget and within the time scale.
• Ensuring all projects adhere to H&S standards and regulations.
• Ensure that installations are completed in line with MCS regulations.
• Together with the warehouse managers, ensure all stock levels are up to date so shortages do not occur.
• Co-ordinate material deliveries with our warehouse teams.
• Manage and co-ordinate completion of G98 and G99 applications together with the Technical Manager and admin staff.
• Prepare applications/invoices for our accounts team on a monthly basis.
• Supply and communicate hand over packs to the client together with the team.
• Remote working from our other branches will be a requirement from time to time.
• A hands-on approach completing panel and electrical installs maybe required.

Required Qualifications

• Fully qualified electrician – CSCS (ECS) Gold Card.
• Experience in Project/Contracts Management.
• Knowledge of, and experience in Solar PV inverter and battery storage installs.
• IT skills.
• Full UK Driving License.
